PURGED WORD OF THE DAY
When we say pardon me, we usually mean excuse or lightly forgive me for an interruption. Today’s word, pardon, is related through the Old Testament word cliychah to yesterday’s word of forgiveness. Forgiveness is related to freedom in the New Testament and to the idea of pardon in the Old. Pardon means “it never happened.” Interestingly pardon is related to words like cancel, pitched, purged, and erased. When God forgives sins, He cancels, pitches, purges and erases them.
Now that’s some kind of forgiveness!
