NOT REALLY WORD OF THE DAY

For years, many of you have read “why do you look at the speck in your neighbors eye…” Not really. Today’s word, speck, wouldn’t be translated speck at all.   It would literally read, “why do you look at the twig…” or it would read straw. King James uses the word mote which is a tiny speck of anything but by definition the speck should be wood. If they used something small of wood the it would make more sense that the speck of wood would be compared to a log or beam. Which, of course, would both be made of wood too.
