COAST GUARD WORD OF THE DAY

Have you seen the movies about the Coast Guard swimmers, pilots, and sailors that not only protect our country’s coasts but protect our people on those coasts? These guardians of us and our coasts spend much of their time doing the less heroic but essential tasks of patrolling, checking, enforcing, guarding, and helping sailors.

One use of guardian in the Bible refers to Jesus as the Shepherd and Guardian of our souls. How heroic was He and, yet, how humbly did God take on flesh and so un-gloriously come to help us? How willing are we to mimic him and do the less than glamorous to save the people within our coasts?
