MATURING WORDS OF THE DAY

Ready for a week of change? Well, whether we are ready or not, change will come to each of us this week. Some changes come fast and others, like a change of opinion, take longer. We will inevitably change our opinions as we mature. Radical ideas will find become truths or be discarded as youthful thoughts. Experience will bring compassion and more patience. We will find ourselves changed.

The Bible actually has a word just for this change of mind: metaballo. Metabollo, a figure of speech that is the combination of the phrases “throw over” and “meta (Greek)”, is used in Acts 26:8. Unfortunately, these people changed their minds incorrectly.
