DEEP WORD OF THE DAY
There are a few places that you likely never meant to find yourself. The abyss is definitely one of those places. It is used seven times in the Bible (King James calls it “the deep”), every instance is an unhappy experience. Demons are banished to the abyss. The devil arises out of the abyss. The abyss is a bottomless depth. The English language has an adjective, “abysmal,” that describes something utterly hopless. The abyss is bad. Bad, bad, evil bad.
