- Interpret the part by the whole.
- Scripture interprets Scripture so the whole remains consistent.
- The clear interprets the unclear.
- The primary interprets the secondary.
- Something stated many times interprets that which is only said once or rarely.
- Follow the literal meaning – Go with the obvious meaning before a “hidden” message.
- Simple sense is better than contrived.
- Always watch out for verses that make you feel justified to “feel the way you feel.” Facts rarely “feel” but rather teach us in deeper, slower ways.
