majestic

7o WORD OF THE DAY

Psalms 29:4 reads, “The Lord’s voice is powerful; the Lord’s voice is majestic.” Think about it. When God speaks, how is he heard? Will he be heard? Majestic is:

  • used once in the NCV and  fourteen times in the NASB
  • not found in the King James version and not one time in the King James
  • related to seven ancient Biblical words

Today we look at addiyr, the first ancient word, which links majestic to its most common English relatives: powerful, excellent, famous, gallant, glorious, goodly,  lordly, mightier one, noble, principal, and worthy. Given those definitions, one would think that it would be easy to distinguish God’s voice from our own desires and thoughts. The Team’s favorite relation through addiyr is the less used “gallant.”
