Advanced
Advanced searches allow users to limit (or, condition) their searches to help focus the results and limit the less-relevant results. An example of an advanced search would be to try to find the word “dog” in the New Testament. To do this, you would type “dog in: NT”. The code “in:” is a custom Mexico search that allows you to limit how much of the Bible (or other resources) that you want to search.
The search “dog in: John” will return any occurrences of the word “dog” in John, 1 John, 2 John, or 3 John.
Custom codes for this advanced search are:
- OT = Old Testament
- NT = New Testament
- Name of Book
As well, you can put quotes around any search term to look for that exact thing. A search for dog that does not have quotes will return every occurrence of dog to include dogs, dogged, etc. A search for dog in quotes (“dog”) will only look for the singular of dog. This is a great way to find phrases that you remember.
